Heroes S03E03

So, I’m a week late on this post, but there’s not a whole lot to say. We got ultimate proof that Tracy and Nikki are not one and the same person, but Tracy was “created”. We saw nothing of Mohinder, which was a bit of a relief. Matt discovered that a random person in Africa has been painting his (Matt’s life) throughout their life. I think the best part was Sylar being HRG’s partner and how that played out. Interesting dynamics between the 2. And like others, I was curious if Peter could use the power of the guy he was inside, and he could. But he was removed before we could find out if he could still use his other powers. So, now the question is, is he going to be able to use Jesse’s power still? Claire is still her stubborn self, but she does learn that even if she can regenerate, there are some things that are hard to get through before she heals.

A lot of things happened, but they were mostly setup, rather than answering questions. New episode tonight and we’ll see if the promise of finding out more about Mohinder’s “power” is delayed again.

Heroes S3 Premiere

So, I and many other people, are fans of a TV series known as Heroes. Describing the series pretty much requires a wiki, so I’m not even going to attempt it.

Since it has been a long time since the previous season (December to September was hiatus), there was a 3 hour premiere. The first hour was a gala celebration with scenes from future episodes (most of which were from the episodes that aired that day), as well as important scenes for important characters. Very near the end, it showed the final scene from season 2: Nathan being shot.

The second hour was the first episode of the new season, The Second Coming. We got to see lots of bits of information, and one bit of speculation was put to rest by a simple 2 line dialogue:

“Are you gonna eat it?”
“Eat your brain? Claire, that’s disgusting.”
Claire, Sylar

The second hour of the premiere was The Butterfly Effect. Most of the major events was more politically inclined, rather than news of the various people.

Of course, there’s more questions raised as well. For one, where did future!Peter get that lovely scar across his face? For some reason, I want to say that we knew, but its not showing up in the Heroes wiki on first glance (and of course, that’s when I find a reference to it).

Also, Mohinder is an utter and complete idiot. Peter needs to learn that if someone is telling him to not do something, that maybe that person is right.

Also, Maya’s powers kick in when her adrenaline is high? That makes for some interesting issues. Such as allergies (EpiPen anyone?). Or as others have mentioned, hopefully she doesn’t become an adrenaline junkie if she survives the series. Bungee jumping just would be kinda not so good. Or heck, birth and the whole process leading up to birth? Plus, granted that her ability is handy in a fight-or-flight type situation, but it also leaves her by herself if she was ever put into that situation (ie: can’t save comrades).

Linderman’s invisible (some might speculate, ghostly?) reappearance also derails any chance of speculation about how Nathan is healed. Though, is it possible for a ghost to heal? Until he was shown, I was half wondering why Peter didn’t hand over some of his blood to Nathan. Then, I remembered that Peter has the ability to heal, but his wouldn’t heal blood can’t heal anyone else. Also, that was future!Peter with Nathan, and his whole goal was to kill Nathan, not heal him.

Ah well, the series continues and questions will be raised and answered for quite awhile. … continue reading this entry.

Sooo cool

This is something that my brother showed me, and you’ll want to use headphones while listening.

Basically, its an experiment at improving audio quality and also how we perceive audio in general. In very layman’s terms: a dummy human head has very sensitive microphones in the locations of the ears. Those microphones then record whatever and complicated computer work synchronizes those 2 audio streams into being just one, that still plays in the stereo affect (ie: both ears simultaneously). This lets you get a “virtual” haircut.

If you want to read the full nitty-gritty details, the Wiki article appears fairly comprehensive in a quick scan. There’s also one that’s more specific to these recordings. Both have links to further recordings.

Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

So, ages ago (roughly 2 weeks actually), I created a basic post with no information and just 2 text links about Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.

As a brief explanation, it is basically a video blog done by Dr. Horrible (played by Neil Patrick Harris), who wishes to join the Evil League of Evil. He ends up having complications (love interest, rival) on the way, shockingly of course. As probably also rather obvious, Dr. Horrible is a mad scientist.

Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was an interesting storyline and I thoroughly fell in love with the music. Doogie Howser sings!

Where’s that target?

I swear, there must be an invisible target on my car. Just because its a dark red (that actually can look quite purple depending on dirt and light levels) sporty car does not mean that its invisible. I do admit to having no patience at times while driving, but I also try to keep a good eye out to potential problems/escape routes on the road. Probably, this is partially as a result of the lack of patience. Then again, there are the people who completely ignore road signs and road laws, and those are irksome.

I nearly ran into one of those people who ignored road laws on my way into work today. I was going down a road that is less traveled than the ones that it parallels (both are major roads) but it is also behind many stores (some of which is arranged strip-mall fashion). There are only a few ways to go from the front of those stores to this road, and the most common is to go between Circuit City and a buffet-style restaurant that changes names and owners every couple of years. There’s also a bit of an incline involved, and some bad landscaping choices (partially maybe a building as well?) make it necessary to actually be at the road before deciding to make a turn. Google Maps is a little off on the location of the Circuit City, but that is the intersection involved. As you can see, its going from a parking lot to a road, meaning people on the road have full right of way.

Well, as I said, I was going down this road, and someone was leaving that parking lot to make a right onto the road I was on (and thus, going the same direction I was). I noticed that they were stopped for a bit towards the top of this incline and I guess thats where they checked both directions? The person in front of me had no problems and then I see this car start heading down the incline and directly into traffic, without stopping at the bottom to see if it was safe.  I hit my brakes and my horn, and am close enough to see her stare at me in complete shock.  If she was going faster around the corner, she might have been fine, but she was taking her time. Plus, contrary to many people’s thoughts (I say this due to the sheer number of people I get behind that drive 30 MPH or lower), that road has a speed limit of 35 MPH and I’ve seen people drive much faster.

No actual accident resulted, but argh! That was annoying and not the first time that no one’s seen my car. Heck, I was originally going to buy a dark green Mini Cooper before I fell in love with the Scion tCs and my mom was trying to convince me that dark green wouldn’t be very visible against trees and the like. I’d have thought dark red (red being a color that we see easily, same with yellow) would stand out more than it apparently does. *sigh*
